5.7 magnitude earthquake struck Kashmir

An earthquake of 5.7 magnitude struck the Kashmir Valley, including summer capital, Srinagar and its adjoining areas early this morning, forcing people to rush out of their houses in panic.
A weather office spokesman said the tremors which were felt at 04:51 hrs lasted for several seconds.

Gunman suspected of killing Fresno County sheriff’s deputy, wounding others

At least three law enforcement officers were shot, one in the head, during a confrontation with an arson suspect in the town of Minkler, east of Fresno.

The Punjab Government has declared public holiday on March 1, 2010 on the eve of “Holi”. A spokesman of the Punjab government disclosed this today in Chandigarh.
The spokesman said that Punjab Government partially amended its first notification and declared public holiday (Holi) on March 1, 2010 instead of February 28, 2010.
