Former Punjab minister Malkiat Singh Birmi booked following clash
Jul 12th, 2009 | Category: Breaking News, India News, Punjab NewsLudhiana: Police has registered a case against former Punjab Minister and 12 others who had attacked members of a rival Congress faction during a function here last night. Former minister Malkiat Singh Birmi, along with Ravi Sarpanch, Sanjay Singh and 10 others were booked under sections 323 and 324 of the IPC. The case was registered at Division No-7 police station today on the statement of local Congress leader, Manpreet Singh.
The complainant alleged that he and his supporters were attacked with swords by Birmi and his supporters during the function in which Ludhiana MP Manish Tewari was to be honored. However Mr Tewari failed to reach for the function. Manpreet Singh received head injuries in the clash and was admitted to the CMC hospital.
