Gujarat High Court ordered State Govt. to pay Rs. 262 cr compensation to Riot Victims

The money was allocated by the Centre in 2007. The High Court issued the order on a compliant filed by the riot victims against the non-payment of the compensation by the Gujarat government.
The Gujarat High Court had earlier set up nine fast track courts to hold the Gujarat riot trials on a day-to-day basis.
