Two killed as old shell explodes in Pathankot

At least two persons have been killed and one other injured when an old shell exploded at a metal scrap shop in Mamun Cantonment area of Pathankot today.

The shop owner, dealing in discarded junk of army, and his employees were extracting metal out of the shell when the blast occurred at around 2.30 pm.

According to an eyewitness, the explosion was so loud that window panes and doors of nearby buildings were shattered.

“The shop owner Madan Lal and one employee were killed on the spot while another was seriously injured,” Pathankot SP Bhupinderjeet Singh Virk said, adding the injured was rushed to nearby private Raavi Hospital, where his condition was stated to be serious.
